Vernell Porter, Jr. comes from a city of hidden talent, Louisville, Kentucky to be exact! Dancing is what he lives for. He truly loves the fact that he found the passion for dance at an early age. Now at the age of 22, Vernell has been introduced and trained in different genres of dance. As far as choreographing and instructing, he only specializes in stepping and hip hop for the moment. Vernell studied dance under some phenomenal Louisville choreographers such as: Keisha Walker (Soljettes Dance Company), Safiyyah Rasool & Conrad De Chabert (Safiyyah Dance Company), Lauren & Josh Ford (Louisville Dance Alliance), and currently under John Keen (Keen Dance Theater); which has contributed his passion for dance .
Vernell's passion for dance and willingness to be the best is where it started and his determination to help others with his craft is what got him to the level he's at today! Vernell is definitely a leader, but when he isn't teaching, he loves becoming the student in the world of dance! Vernell honestly believes there is no end to growth and recently just graduated from a 3-month dance program in Hollywood, CA. The 3-month dance intensive offered core classes in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, choreography, and business for dancers, as well as two dance electives. The 3-month certificate program also gave Vernell the opportunity to audition with LA's premiere talent agencies and participate in an end of the quarter showcase. This structured program has helped Vernell advance his skill level in those traditional and contemporary styles of dance required for successful entry into today's dance industry.
